Description:
This cold trap reduces the flow of oil and vacuum contaminant vapors back streaming into the system chamber. Vapor molecules receive backward velocity due to intermolecular collisions and the motion is called back streaming. The Cooke cold trap pumps vapors such as oil and water by condensation and incorporates maximum conductance while effectively reducing back streaming.The thermal efficient design trap works even with refrigerated H2O.
Although the inert gas welded thimble trap series may be used directly above most diffusion pumps, it is preferable to use either a water-cooled or ambient baffle between the multi-coolant trap and the diffusion pump.The combination reduces the heat radiated from the pump thus reducing the consumption of the refrigerant.A water baffle may be included in the trap or placed separately in the vacuum flow.
